Grilled ribs are some of the best food you can ever make on a grill. There is a specific technique to create the perfect smoky ribs on a small grill. We are here to let you in on this secret recipe on how to cook ribs on a small grill.

What Are The Ingredients Required?

Here is a list of ingredients you will need to cook ribs on a small grill.

  • Brown Sugar (2 tablespoons)
  • Onion Powder (2 tablespoons)
  • Garlic Powder (2 tablespoons)
  • Salt and Pepper (as per taste)
  • Paprika (2 tablespoons)
  • Baby Back Ribs (one rack)
  • Apple cider (2 tablespoons)
  • Barbecue Sauce
  • Yellow Mustard

The Cooking Process

Step 1

Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl. This is the dry rub. Set it aside for a minute. Now prepare the ribs by taking out their membrane. If the butcher takes off the membrane, then even better.

Step 2

Take the mustard and coat the ribs. The ribs should be coated appropriately before you put the dry rub on them. Set them aside and start preparing for the grill. This allows the ribs to marinate while you prepare your grill.

Step 3

Remove the grate and place newspaper at the bottom of the bowl. Fill the bowl halfway with charcoal briquettes. Light the newspaper on fire. Allow it to completely burn off and then place unlit coal on top of the lit coal. Put wood chunks on top of the coal.

Step 4

Place the grate back on the grill and let it heat up. Oil the grate properly. Place a half water-filled foil pan on top of the grill. Now place the ribs on the grill with the meaty side up. The approximate temperature should be 230°F.

Step 5

Then close the grill and let it cook. Make sure that the charcoal is burning from time to time and regulate the temperature to keep it steady as much as you can. Cook it for around 2 hours. Check if it needs more cooking time, but 2 hours is generally sufficient.

Step 6

Take the ribs after cooking them for 2 hours and place them on a double-layered foil. Pour a good amount of Apple cider on the hot ribs. Immediately close the foil and make it a tight wrap around the ribs.

Step 7

Place the foil on the grill and once again cook for 2 hours with the lid closed. After that, take out the ribs and place them flesh up. Coat the bottom with the barbecue sauce of your choice—cover and cook for another hour.

Step 8

The meat should be cooked until it comes clean off the bone. Remove from flame and rest for one minute or two before serving them.

Conclusion

It is a time-consuming process, but the results are mouth-watering. We hope you have successfully learnt to cook ribs on a small grill. Enjoy the sweet fruits of your labour with your loved ones!
